Monochrome Geometric Diamond with Silver Boarder Nail Art Tutorial

Hello everybody! What's up? I have some disastrous nail news, darlings. Yesterday my middle finger-nail broke very badly as I was stacking my dish washer and as a result I have had to file down my other nails so that they are even. Oh, well, these things do happen, it's not like I was just admiring how much my nails had grown, nope, I wasn't doing that at all. But, I still love me some short nails, so I'm embracing the change guys! I have been playing around with the idea of diamond nails since around Christmas, so I'ma super pumped to share these elegant and beautiful diamond-monochrome nails with you guys!

These are super simple monochrome diamond nails with a silver border. The polishes that I used were; an un-named silver BYS polish (grr, un-named polishes!) Revlon's White on White and Revlon's Knockout.

The first step in the nail-art-tutorial-completion process is to use the brush from your white nail polish to create a diagonal stripe across the tip of your nail. We are starting with the white on the bottom because white polishes tend to  be a whole lot more sheer than black polishes are so if we were to start with black and put white over it, the overlapping space between the two colours would be very obvious. Depending on how sheer your polish is, you may need to work your polish around the nail using the brush until you see it become opaque. I definitely recommend that you use colours that are as opaque as possible.

In the opposite corner, repeat this process. It is a lot more difficult to get a sharp edge near the cuticle, if you are having trouble you can use a nail art brush instead, or create a sharper edge by taking the nail on your other hand and wiping the excess polish off using the tip of that nail.

I am doing the stripes the opposite way on my other hand, as you can see in this photo. This is optional, as I don't think that it made much difference to the overall look in the end. But, oh well! You gotta try stuff, right!

Repeat the two above steps to fill in the remaining corners of the nail in black nail polish. If you are looking for a straight up monochrome look, then you can just leave the nails like this, but I am going to add a silver boarder to add a lil' bit a' glamour to this look.

Using a small nail art brush, add a line of silver nail polish close to the edge of the black section. Don't forget to do this for both sections!

Close to the edge of the white sections, add a stripe of silver. As you can see, the silver fits the size of the section.

There we go! Nail-art-tutorial-completion process is at 100 per cent! I love how elegant these look, it just goes to prove that sometimes simple is best! I wanna hear from you guys! What do you think? Do you like these better with the silver boarder or without the silver boarder? Do you think this would be fun in colour? Let me know in the comments section, or on Instagram and Pinterest (my username on both is thegoodnailsblog) and don't forget to share your own creations with me using the #goodnails!
May your nails be good and unbroken!
