Maybelline Color Show Bleached Neons "Chic Chartreuse" (St Patricks Day number 10) Swatch and Review
Hello everybody! Following my formal announcement for the top ten polishes to wear for St Patricks Day list I decided it was best to not keep all of you in suspense, but to release the first swatch and review as quick as lightning (is that a saying?)! For those of you that missed the announcement you can read it here, it'll give you everything you need to know if you don't know it already! Right now i'm itching to get to the first review, so let's gooooooo!!!
I'm kicking off our list with a polish that is a little bit unusual for St Patricks day; a neon! So, at number ten on our list is Chic Chantreuse from the Maybelline Color Show Bleached Neons range!I could not help myself with this one, I had to include it on the list because it is perfection for St Patricks Day! The colour, is chartreuse, but it is more green leaning than I would expect of a typical chanteuse shade. Despite being a neon this polish isn't that bright, possibly because it is bleached, but I have definitely not seen a neon that is as un-bright (not a word, but a good description nonetheless) as this before, so if you don't like neons but like this colour, this might be a good one or you. Unfortunate the formula on this polish is not very self-leveling. Shown is three coats (1 thin and two thick) and it is still a bit streaky and patchy, but I have seen similar issues on other neon polishes; it can be difficult to find a neon with a good formula! Though, I reckon that you'd be all right if you did three thick old coats instead of two thick ones and one thin one, which is what I did.
How! How are my pictures for the bottle and brush so dark? I'm sorry guys! Y'know, I actually really like the Maybelline bottle. It is of a round shape with a round lid and is fairly small, but not so small that you'll never find it amongst your other nail polishes. I like that there isn't an overload of information on the lid, which would look cluttered. Instead it's just the logo, which gives the bottle a clean and elegant look that I love!
Oh Maybelline, how you disappoint me. The bush is not good. At all. I thought the brush was actually a lot bigger than this, but once you wipe the polish off and take a good hard look at it, it's pretty small. The biggest problem I had with this brush was with control'; it felt very weak and flimsy which made it very difficult to use. Maybe if the brush had been bigger and easier to use then the polish would have gone on more smoothly.
There it is! My first St Patricks Day polish review and swatch (I know, It's supposed to be swatch and review but I'm excited)! I think this is great for St Patricks day because it's a very unique shade of green; you don't see that many chartreuse polishes and you don't see many in this shade either! I obviously did not love the formula on this one, but I still think that it deserves a spot on the list because of it's unique colour and finish! Also, how fun is a green neon for St Patricks Day?! I love it, I do! I also did a live application swatch video for this on my Instagram, which you can view here! I'd love to hear your thought guys! What do you think about the first polish on our list? Do you have any chartreuse polishes? Have you tried the Maybelline brush? Let me know right here in the comments or on Instagram and Pintrest (my username is thegoodnailsblog)!
May your nails be good and lucky!
