Sinful Colors Vanessa Hudgens Winter Collection Part 2: Comparison post
Hi everyone! How are you guys? I have had such a busy week, so I am really glad to have gotten to the weekend! I am also really glad to be doing this post; none other than the second part of my Sinful Colors Vanessa Hudgens Winter Collection review, aka the comparison post! I wanted to do a comparison post for this collection because I think it is a really great way of seeing how dupe-able a collection is. My specific goal for this collection was to actually compare polishes in this collection against each other, because in the bottle some if them were looking pretty similar to me. But, of course, I am not stopping there! I am also comparing these polishes to others from my collection, just like a regular old comparison! So, with that in mind, let's head off to the first polish in this post!
Now, we will be sticking with the original order of polishes from the review posts, so that means that Slay Ride is up first! This polish is a shimmery silver that is a pinch darker than an average silver polish.
Annnnnnd, the two polishes that I will be comparing it to are Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Bride To Be (centre) and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Garage Band (far right)!
So! When I was rummaging though my draws of polish lookin' for polishes to compare it with, I tried to pick out silvers that were darker than normal but not too dark. Garage band, is a LOT darker than Slay Ride (I thought that it looked lighter in the bottle), and Bride to Be also misses the mark; being slightly lighter and having a little bit of blue shimmer in there as well! So! No dupes so far!
Next up is another shimmery colour; Wonderland! This one is a bright blue colour. It is also one of my favourites of the collection!
The other polishes that I will be comparing Wonderland to are Sky's The Limit By Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy (centre) and Sprinkled With Love by Sally Hansen Miracle Gel (far right)
Wonderland and Skys the Limit do look similar, but it's not an exact dupe; Skys the Limit is different colour wise; it;s just not quite as bright a blue as Wonderland. Sprinkled with Love is also not a dupe; its much more of a grey-blue color.
Next up is Holly Holly, another favourite of mine. This is another shimmery polish, and this time it is a dark red.
The polish that I will be comparing to Holly Holly is Frosted Berries by Sally Hansen Miracle Gel (right).
So, this is much much less of a dupe than I was expecting! Frosted Berries is darker red than Holly Holly and it is not nearly as shimmery.
This here is Frozen Rose. This is a Magenta polish with Blue, pink and gold shimmer through it. Oh! And this shimmer is in a couple of polishes in this collection!
Being compared to Frozen Rose is Spice It Up by Revlon Top Speed (right)
Ok, so these polishes were a lot less similar than I was expecting! In the bottle, it looked as if the shimmer in the polishes was similar, but nope! Not at all! Spice it up is a brown base with gold shimmer, and it is nothing like Frozen Rose! Not a dupe at all.
Next up, we will be looking at my very favourite polish of the collection; Winterstellar. This is a dark grey base with the same shimmer as Frozen Rose; pink, blue and gold.
The one polish that I immedietly recognised as having dupe-potential was another Sinful Colors collaboration polish; Konstellation from the Kylie Jenner Trend Matters collection.
These two polishes are pretty similar really. But, Konstellation dries to a matte finish and also has a blue-to-purple duochrome effect. It's the added shimmer in Konstellation that makes it look similar yo Winterstellar.
This is Illuminaughty, a shimmery bronze polish.
For this polish, we will actually be using another polish from this collection as a part of the comparison. So, the two polishes I will be comparing this polish to are Supernova by Sinful Colors (centre) and Deck Yaself by Sinful Colors (far right).
Supernova is a lot lighter than Illuminaughty, though the shimmer in the two is quite similar. Deck Yaself is also not a dupe, it is a lot darker and the shimmer is also completely different.
Now we will be looking at Through The Woods, a chocolate brown polish with that same tri-colour shimmer.
The polish that I will be comparing to Through the Woods is I Klove you from the Sinful Colors Kylie Jenner Demi Matte collection (right).
\
Color-wise, I think these two are fairly similar, but Through the Woods just looks completely different with that shimmer running through it. Not to mention the demi-matte finish of I Klove You. Once again, not a dupe.
This here is Sugar Plum, a light purple with that shimmer that we all know and love; blue, pink and gold.
And, the polish that will be compared to Sugar Plum is another Sinful Colors Vanessa Hudgens polish from the original Festival collection; Spaced Out (far right).
Now, I though that because the base colour was pretty similar, the polish would also be similar on the nail. But, because of all the shimmer that is in Sugar Plum, they don't look similar at all! Spaced out is a lot lighter and has gold shimmer in it, instead of the multiple shimmers that are in Sugar Plum.
This is Deck Yaself, a chestnut brown with delicate gold shimmer.
The polish that I will be comparing to Deck Yaself is Merry Glitzmas by Sally Hansen Miracle Gel (far right).
The colour of these is quite different, with Merry Glitzmas being a lighter pink-toned shade. Shimmer wise, Merry Glitzmas has both pink and gold shimmer and it is different in style to the gold shimmer in Deck Yaself.
Next is Enchanted, one of three green polishes. This is a dark green with blue shimmer.
Being compared to Enchanted is Beguile by Revlon (far right). But, we will also be looking at Enchanted vs the other green polishes in this collection a little later on!
I thought for this comparison, that beguile and Enchanted were similar base and shimmer wise, as they are both very dark and have different coloured shimmers in the base. But, on the nail, they are not really very similar at all.
The second green is Fairy Teal, an emerald polish with blue shimmer.
For this comparison, I have brought back Enchanted (far right) as well as another Sinful Colors polish, Jade Kat (centre).
So, Enchanted is a lot darker than Fairy Teal, but Jade Kat is quite similar. Although, the blue shimmer that is in Jade Kat is a lot stronger than the blue shimmer in Fairy Teal, which gives it a more blue hue as well as making it more sparkly.
The very last polish that we will be looking at today is Fab-Yule-Ous, a forest green polish with blue shimmer.
Oh! We have got a whole lot of polishes for comparison! Including Fairy Teal (nearest polish) and Enchanted (second polish on the left). The other polish is another Vanessa Hudgens polish, Vicious from the Jungle Beat collection (far right)
Colour wise, Enchanted and Fairy Teal are not at all similar to Fab-Yul-Ous. Closer in colour is Viscious, but it's darker than Fab-Yule-Ous and the shimmer is also different.
And that brings us to the end of this comparison post. I am so very pleased to say that there was no polish that I could find an exact dupe for! That is so exciting! Even the polishes from the same collection that I thought would be pretty dupe-y were different! I think that this collection has some very unique polishes, and they are indeed very hard to dupe.
May your nails be good
